She Can’t Begin reveals the guilt, confusion, pettiness and contradictions that accompany trauma.
Artist Linda Duvall conveys disconnectedness and flashes of clarity, in text, against the peculiarly tranquil outdoor environment of the Canadian prairies. This silent film echoes with the endless wind blowing across the bare prairies.
The only visible life presence is a Chocolate Lab whose tail occasionally brushes the screen,
or who sits patiently in the field waiting.
