The Hole – OCADU

The Hole was presented at OCADU as part of the exhibition Signs of Life curated by Maiko Tanaka for Nuit Blanche Independent Projects 2015 The Hole began as an investigation of the root system of the wild rose. But for me the most important part was the hole – the chance to stand in it, to lie down and look at the threads of prairie grass roots, to smell the earth, and to listen to the wind gusting overhead. Such a space evokes primal life, death, intimacy, seclusion and the unknown.
